Fans are eagerly anticipating Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and the first trailer was unveiled at Brazil's CCXP panel on Sunday, December 3. The trailer sees the team up of two iconic monsters Godzilla and Kong in order to fight against an undiscovered colossal threat. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire promises an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever. In an interview with international media, actress Kaylee Hottle, who plays the role of Jia, discusses the upcoming film in detail.

1. What was it like to see yourself in the finished film last time with Kong?
It felt really strange. I watched it with my friends and my family, and we all watched it together. And I had to leave the room, and then I came back and watched it. But it was a strange feeling and a great experience.

2. Can you tell me about your character, Jia, in this film? What's she going through at the beginning?
Jia has a lot of trauma and these emotions that she's feeling. She was taken away from her family, but she keeps on going. She has the support from Kong, as well. And Kong also doesn't have anybody either. They both are trying to figure out these needs that they have. They have a relationship together because they've been through so much together.

3. How has Jia changed in this film? In the last one, she was an orphan, and now she plays a huge part in the story.
KAYLE HOTTLE: We learn a lot more about her and about her childhood. She was taken away from her family at a young age, and she had all of these awful things that happened to her—but Rebecca’s character takes care of her. Now, she’s going on this journey to try and get answers. It’s a wonderful story.

4. What is Jia's relationship with Kong? What do they really have in common?
They are both connected, because they both have very similar traits. They communicate with each other through sign language, and she can tell what he is feeling and vice versa. They listen to each other, and they both connect through their struggles. They're both wondering where they are and what their purpose is, and they do that together.

5. With everything that's going on with Jia, how does that affect her relationship with her new adoptive mother, Dr. Andrews?
I think Dr. Andrews has always been there for her. Even if she doesn't know what’s going on, she tries her hardest to understand her. And in the end, they both still want to be together.

6. Well, you're back with the director Adam Wingard. What is it like working on a film with him?
He’s such a joy to work with. On the last movie and on this one, he is working alongside me with his direction. I understand everything that he wants. He gives such great explanations of things, and everything goes as smoothly as possible with his support.

7. I heard you travelled to some amazing places to film this. What did you think of the Daintree Forest? Was it exciting? Was it scary?
Yeah, everything that nature provides is so amazing. There was such beautiful green, and the water and everything, was all just so beautiful. And the movie captures that as well, which is very exciting.

8. Was there anything scary about the animals? I hear the leeches are horrible.
Acting in the first movie, I didn't realize that there was something bothering me, and I was kind of going along with it, but I noticed that there was a little blood on my leg—and I realized it was a leech. But on this film, no, I didn't really have any fears or anything. We stayed in a house that was near the island. There were bugs everywhere. And I don't like bugs, but yeah, that was pretty much it.

9. How excited would you be if monsters such as Kong and Godzilla existed in the real world? How do you think they could help us out?
I don't know. I've never thought about that. I don't think I would be able to approach either of them. I think it would be a strange world if they were in our real world with us.

10. If you were to describe this film to your friends and family, how would you describe it?
I would say in Godzilla x Kong, they have this connection, and they have to work together to defeat their foes. We have all thought that Godzilla and Kong hate each other, but in this movie, they have to collaborate and work together to defeat their enemy.
