At the centre of the film is veteran Hollywood actor Dustin Hoffman, who recently opened up about what attracted him to the project. Speaking about the screenplay and the character, Hoffman shared, “When I first read the script, I was impressed by how well-written it was and struck by the original way the story evolved into a heist genre; it felt fresh and compelling. The role of a piano tuner immediately resonated with me on a personal level, as these craftsmen are often quite accomplished pianists themselves yet remain underappreciated.”
The actor also spoke about his experience working alongside Leo Woodall, highlighting the emotional dynamic between their characters in the film. “Niki is like a son to Harry, and bringing that relationship to the screen with Leo was one of the best parts of making this movie. We hit it off immediately. Working together, especially improvising, and our genuine chemistry comes through on screen,” Hoffman added.
The film positions sound and silence as key storytelling devices, building tension through precision, atmosphere, and detail rather than relying solely on conventional action-driven thriller elements. According to the makers, Tuner aims to deliver a more immersive and character-focused cinematic experience while still operating within the crime and heist genre.
