BTS has featured filmmaker Maggie Kang, director of Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, in its ongoing short documentary series Keep Swimming With BTS. The series is tied to the group’s latest album ARIRANG and expands on the message introduced in its lead single ‘Swim’.

The documentary campaign focuses on themes of resilience, consistency, and personal growth. Through conversations with figures from different fields, the series highlights the idea of continuing forward at one’s own pace, even amid challenges and uncertainty.
On April 27 (KST), Maggie Kang appeared in the latest episode, where she reflected on her Oscar win, the making of KPop Demon Hunters, her connection to Korean identity, and the mindset that drives her creative journey.
Speaking about her Academy Award recognition, Kang said, “I still can’t really believe it even now that it won an Oscar. I genuinely wanted to depict Korean culture through animation. After watching this film, feeling that sense of Korean pride meant so much to me.”
She also spoke about her emotional connection to Korea, saying, “Even though I’ve lived abroad longer, it’s strange. Every time I come to Korea, the moment the plane touches down, I feel like, ‘I’m home.’ Being Korean has always felt like my number one identity.”
Discussing what motivates her work, Kang added, “I want to keep overcoming fear and remain fearless, because only when you’re fearless can you do something incredible.”
The Keep Swimming With BTS series began on April 7 and has brought together several prominent Korean personalities who have made an impact globally. Participants so far include filmmaker Park Chan-wook, fashion designer Nora Noh, Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Choi Gaon, and Venerable Sunjae. More guests are expected to be revealed through BTS’ official social media channels.
Meanwhile, BTS recently launched the North American leg of their BTS World Tour ‘Arirang’ In North America with the first two sold-out concerts at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, held on April 25 and 26.
The opening shows attracted strong online attention, with fan-shot videos from the concerts widely circulating on digital platforms. One of the most talked-about moments came during the performance of ‘Body to Body’, when the Korean folk song ‘Arirang’ was incorporated into the set. Fans responded with a loud singalong, creating one of the standout sequences of the evening.
The production also featured traditional Korean-inspired visuals, including a large-scale ganggangsullae-style circle dance, LED flags, and ribbon elements influenced by sangmo performance art, reinforcing the cultural identity of the Arirang tour.
BTS is scheduled to conclude its Tampa run with a final show on April 28.
