Britney Spears requested fans to respect her privacy after police were called to her house. The cops visited following some prank calls made after the singer’s Instagram account was noticed to be deactivated.

As cited by Variety, Spears posted an Instagram video dancing and saying, “I changed my name to River Red.” The singer then deleted her account for unknown reasons, prompting concerned fans to call the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

The 41-year-old singer on Thursday took to Twitter requesting her fans after cops visited her home shortly after she deleted her account. "As everyone knows the police were called to my home based on some rank phone calls," she tweeted.

"I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded,” she added in her statement. “The police never entered my home and when they came to my gate they quickly realized there was no issue and left immediately.”

Her statement continued, “This felt like I was being gas lit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media. During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward. All the love, B.”

The news comes a little over a month after her husband, Sam Asghari, asked fans to not over examine Spears’ Instagram activity. “Social media can be traumatizing,” he wrote in his Instagram Story on December 8, as shared by Billboard. “Sometimes it’s good to take a break. She has her voice and is a free woman.” in the same story, he added, “I have respect for her privacy and I protect it at all times.”
