Ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Norwegian DJ and music producer Alan Walker made his live debut at an Indian cricket league with #RCBUnbox at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. The 26-year-old global star delivered an eclectic performance that lasted over 30 minutes and entertained a full house of over 25,000 attendees. Taking audiences by surprise and incorporating a crossover element to his set, he sampled an impromptu remix of ‘Salaam Rocky Bhai’ from the blockbuster film, KGF, which was well received by attendees.

The dance music prodigy was also seen exchanging collaborative notes with ace batsman Virat Kohli, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) locker room, discussing life lessons, work-life balance and the love for their respective professions. During the former half of the day, he was spotted attending the women’s cricket team victory run at the stands as well as keenly watching the practice session of the men’s team.

Aside from his engaging headlining performance, Alan Walker joined Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Smriti Mandhana on stage to unveil the team’s brand-new jersey. For the unversed, the multi-platinum global artist has crafted RCB’s multi-lingual team track titled ‘Team Side ft RCB’ featuring pop artist Sofiloud.

Alan Walker states, "I had a great time performing at the #RCBUnbox event and it was a surreal feeling to be surrounded by so much fan love, joy and positivity in the stadium. I had the pleasure meeting both Virat Kohli and Dinesh Kartik, both amazing cricketers and humans. I’m also happy to see that women's cricket is flourishing in India and my best wishes to Smriti Mandhana. Looking forward to be back again soon!'"

Alan teamed up with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to create a first-of-its-kind team song ahead of the upcoming season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Titled ‘Team Side ft RCB’ and featuring pop artist Sofiloud, the track premiered live by the EDM prodigy for the very first time at his thirty-minute set at #RCBUnbox on March 19 at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The multi-platinum global artist was also be joined by several players from RCB, including Faf Du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell, Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, Rishabh Shetty and Dinesh Karthik among others at the event. His performance was be supported by local acts such as Raghu Dixit, Neeti Mohan, Brodha V, Jordindian and Barfi Katcheri

This marks the second time that the Bangalore-based franchise has roped in a global superstar to headline the #RCBUnbox, a platform where team jerseys and anthems are launched and key players and personnel are felicitated. Launched in 2022, RCB announced Faf Du Plessis as skipper while in 2023, AB De Villiers and Chris Gayle were inducted as Hall of farmers with a guest appearance by Jason Derulo at #RCBUnbox. The 17th edition of IPL will kick off with a thrilling match between the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22 which will be marked by the return of the batting maestro Virat Kohli after a break of two months.

‘Team Side ft RCB’ reflects Alan Walker's longstanding success within the Indian music landscape and his ambitions for the future. With its catchy electro-house vibe, the 3 -minute multi-lingual anthem that imbibes English, Kannada and Hindi, aspires to create excitement and engagement for Alan's upcoming music releases, arena tour, and future collaborations.

Expressing his excitement about the collaboration, Alan Walker states, "I am thrilled to be working with Royal Challengers Bangalore on this anthem. We are confident that this partnership will bring excitement and engagement for both Alan and the team."

Alan Walker will be bringing his largest ever tour to India later this year, produced by Asia’s biggest electronic music festival, Sunburn. Spanning across 10 cities, the critically acclaimed DJ and music producer will be touring from September to October of this year, covering places like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Hyderabad, Pune, Shillong, Chennai and Kolkata.

The Norwegian icon will be touring in support of his WalkerWorld, the first installment of his most ambitious and ever-evolving project, a compilation that cut across genres as he beckoned audiences into an innovative and immersive chapter of his artistry. This initial release premiered in December 2023 and featured 10 tracks, including five new compositions, that transcended traditional sonic boundaries showcasing Alan Walker’s progression as an artist. The album opened with an inviting track, setting the stage for a diverse playlist. Collaborations with artists like Daya in “Heart Over Mind” and Steve Aoki in “Spectre 2.0” highlight Walker’s signature dance-pop style. In contrast, “Land of the Heroes” with Sophie Stray ventures into emotive electronic. The album culminated with “Darkride,” a solo track by Walker, ending on a cinematic note that leaves listeners eager for future additions. The project also marked a unique crossover into the virtual world, with the introduction of Alan Walker’s amusement park in Fortnite, aptly named after the album.
