Zoya Akhtar's upcoming film The Archies is set in the 1960s, and the director has revealed that she is keen to capture the infectious spirit of the era in her film.
Speaking to Vogue India, Akhtar said, "The '60s was the era of rock 'n' roll. It was a time when people - kids and teens especially - genuinely believed that they could change the world. No other decade has shown that kind of enthusiasm ever since, and The Archies tries to capture that infectious spirit."
The Archies is a musical film that is based on the popular Archie Comics characters. The Archies stars an ensemble cast of young actors, including Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, and Dot. All of the actors are making their Bollywood debuts in the film.
Zoya also spoke about the challenges of adapting the Archie Comics characters for a film. She said, "The Archie comics have two pages to land their gags, but to create a film out of it that is two hours long is a completely different ball game. I've adapted a few things to give the movie longevity and sustain it over that duration, but in essence, the characters remain the same."
