Veteran actor Zeenat Aman has carved out a unique presence on social media since joining Instagram in February 2023. At a time when celebrity feeds are often filled with promotional posts and quick reels, the actor has gained attention for her thoughtful, long-form reflections that revisit moments from her illustrious career. Continuing that trend, the actor recently revisited one of her iconic roles from the 1979 film The Great Gambler, in which she starred opposite Amitabh Bachchan. Zeenat Aman played the character of Shabnam in the film, which went on to gain popularity for several of its songs.
While the romantic track ‘Do Lafzon Ki’ remains one of the most widely remembered numbers from the film, Aman recently shared a short clip from another song titled ‘O Deewano Dil Sambhalo’ that she feels deserves more recognition. Posting the snippet on Instagram, the actor described it as her personal favourite from the film.
Her Insta post read, “Another hit from The Great Gambler! Do Lafzon Ki was the movie’s most loved song by popular consensus, but this one is my personal favourite. None of that drippy romance stuff here. Just the confidence and sass of a woman who knows her desirability!”
She added, “The sequence had three outfit changes, of which the shimmering gold track-pant set (not featured in this clip but you can find it on YouTube) tickled me the most! Not only was the outfit completely over the top, the hair team decided to give me a short pageboy wig to go with, and the dance master decided to add in some high kicks for good measure.”

The yesteryear star also reflected on her relationship with dance during her acting career, admitting that she did not have formal training like many of her contemporaries. Despite that, she found her own rhythm on screen.
“As I’ve mentioned before, I wasn’t a very confident dancer as I never had formal training unlike most of the actresses of the time. Still, I could ‘groove’ and many a director realised it’s better to leave me to my own swaying device than frustrate themselves trying to coax complicated choreography out of me! Anyway, enjoy this snippet,” she said.
