Filmmakers Pushkar Ojha and Sagar Ambre’s Sidharth Malhotra starrer Yodha is all set to release in theatres on March 15. The trailer of the film produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has received a thumbs up from the audience and the film is keenly awaited.

Zameen (2003)

Directed by Rohit Shetty, Zameen is an action thriller that revolves around the hijacking of a commercial airplane by terrorists. The film stars Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan as Indian Army officers tasked with foiling the hijacking and rescuing the passengers. The movie, which also starred Bipasha Basu and Mukesh Tiwari, was Shetty’s debut before he ventured into the Golmaal franchise.

Neerja (2016)

Directed by Ram Madhvani, Neerja is a biographical thriller based on the true story of Neerja Bhanot, a flight attendant who sacrificed her life to save passengers during the hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in 1986. The film stars Sonam Kapoor in the titular role and received critical acclaim for its portrayal of bravery and heroism.

Bell Bottom (2021)

Directed by Ranjit M. Tewari, Bell Bottom is a spy thriller inspired by true event of the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight in the 1980s. The film stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role of a RAW agent who embarks on a mission to rescue passengers from a hijacked plane. The film was unique in the sense that the rescue operations didn’t involve any bloodshed.

Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga (2023)

Directed by Ajay Singh, the movie is basically about a flight attendant (Yami Gautam) and her boyfriend (Sunny Kaushal) planning steal diamonds with crores. However, their plan goes awry after the plane in which they are traveling is hijacked. Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga turned out to be one of the most watched Bollywood films on OTT.

IB71 (2023)

What sets IB71 apart from other plane hijack films is that the hijack over here is orchestrated by the Indian intelligence in 1971 in order to thwart an attack from Pakistan and China just before the 1971 war. The plan is devised by Vidyut Jammwal’s character who is an intelligence officer in this film directed by Sankalp Reddy.
