Yash has shared his perspective on the enduring appeal of the epic Ramayana, as anticipation builds around its upcoming big-screen adaptation. The actor, who is set to portray Ravana in Ramayana, spoke about the project during an appearance at CinemaCon 2026.

Discussing the significance of the story, Yash highlighted its lasting cultural and emotional impact. “Ramayana has a certain substance that stays with you for a long time. The very reason this story has endured for so long, and gone beyond boundaries almost transcending cultures where people truly own it suggests there’s something deeply universal about it,” he said.
He also spoke about the experience of bringing the epic to the screen using modern filmmaking tools. “I feel that experiencing it on the big screen, with today’s technology, could make it feel even more immersive and unique for audiences, something they can truly take in and enjoy the way it’s meant to be seen,” he added.
The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra under Prime Focus Studios, in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Positioned as a large-scale cinematic adaptation, the project is being developed as a two-part epic.
The makers recently unveiled a glimpse of the character of Rama, offering audiences an early look at the film’s visual scale and design. The project is expected to combine mythology with advanced visual effects to recreate the epic narrative for contemporary audiences.
Ramayana is scheduled for a global IMAX release, with Part 1 set to arrive during Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
