Hollywood actor Willem Dafoe, who recently reprised his role of Green Goblin in Marvel’s record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home, talked about how “it's fun to play villains” and revealed his idea of a film concept he's frequently thought about, involving a Joker sequel with Joaquin Phoenix.

In a conversation with British GQ, the Oscar-nominated actor talked about portraying villainous characters and shared, "I don't know what that is. I'll play dumb. You play characters. I could say, 'Oh yeah, it's fun to play villains 'cause you can do things that you can't do in life, or it's fun to play with your dark side.' But I don't know. I'm not thinking about those things."

He then went on to share his idea of Joker sequel and a character of “Joker imposter” in the movie, that would allow Dafoe to come face-to-face with the real Joker, most recently played by Joaquin Phoenix in an Oscar-winning performance. "There is something interesting about, like, if there was a Joker imposter," he said. "So it would be possible to have not dueling Jokers but someone that [claims] to be the Joker that isn't the Joker.

Willem Dafoe then added, "And that kind of opens up the possibility of an interesting story, particularly if you had Joaquin Phoenix's Joker, and then you had someone who was either imitating or riffing off what he did. I fantasized about that. But other than that I am not talking to anybody [about it], you're the first one."

In addition to his role as Green Goblin in Spider-Man and Spider-Man: No Way Home, William Dafoe’s comic book movie filmography also includes his performance as mentor figure Nuidis Vulko in Aquaman.
