Ever since the Omung Kumar directorial on Sarbjit Singh went on floor, there has been a buzz in social media with several pictures from the sets doing the rounds. However, now it seems that the film has finally wrapped up its schedule. And it is Randeep Hooda who announced about it on his Twitter handle.
Randeep Hooda plays the titular role of Sarbjit Singh in the film and he took to the microblogging site to post a video where he is seen shaving off his beard to get out of the Sarbjit look. He further even captioned it saying, "Goodbye #Sarbjit.Gratitude to @OmungKumar @Vanita_ok @SandeepSinghOne @RichaChadda_ @kirandeohans #AishwaryaRai CREW". Responding to the same, was the director of the film Omung Kumar, "Randeep!!! What did u do!!! one more shot is left!!!!" But before Randeep Hooda got into the panic mode (now that he had shaved off his beard), Omung maintained that he was joking as he further added,
"Just kidding" to the post.
Sarbjit has been extensively shot in real locations of Punjab. The biopic is on a slain Pakistani prisoner Sarabjit Singh. Though he has been accused of being a spy, his family claimed that he was a simple farmer residing in their village, which is located near the Indo-Pak border. One day in a drunken state, after he accidentally crosses the boundaries and reaches the other side of Pakistan, he was sentenced to imprisonment. While his family, especially his sister Dalbir Kaur, fought for justice, Sarbjit was killed by his inmates in jail.
Sarbjit starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a version revealed by his sister. Richa Chadda plays the role of Sarbjit's wife Sukhpreet. The film is produced by Pooja Entertainment in association with T-Series and is slated to release on May 20.
