Wamiqa Gabbi has had a phenomenal 2023. She became a known name with her performance in Vikramaditya Motwane’s highly acclaimed Amazon Prime Video web show Jubilee, which also starred Sidhant Gupta, Aparshakti Khurana, Aditi Rao Hydari, Prosenjit Chatter, among others. She then made heads turn with more web projects like Modern Love Chennai, Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley and Khufiya. The last two projects were helmed by the acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj.
Wamiqa is now looking forward to having a positive 2024 as well. She recently bagged a film opposite Varun Dhawan, which is tentatively titled VD18. It’s produced by filmmaker Atlee, who gave the biggest hit this year in the form of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan and co-produced by one of the producers of Animal Murad Khetani. The film is directed by Kalees and it also stars Keerthy Suresh.
Wamiqa has recently started shooting the film in Kochi. Sharing her reaction at the commencement of the shoot, the actress said, “Being a part of VD18 is a thrilling experience for me. Collaborating with exceptional talents like Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh under Atlee sir’s visionary direction is a creative journey I’m eager to explore. I have been and will always be eternally grateful to 2023, the year the plunged things to new beginnings. And to end the year with being on sets now of my next is truly the perfect curtain call for the year. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do, and I can't wait for audiences to witness the magic we are creating on screen.”
