Vivek Oberoi recently opened up about his past relationships, revealing that he had only a few serious ones. He shared that the loss of his childhood sweetheart to Cancer made him reluctant to commit to serious relationships for a long time. Vivek stressed that he has always been faithful and, in his younger days, was clear with his romantic partners about not wanting anything long-term. He is now married to Priyanka Alva, who, he mentioned, doesn’t ask many questions about his romantic history.
Vivek Oberoi reflects on avoiding serious relationships after heartbreak; says, “My childhood sweetheart died of cancer”In an interview with India TV, Vivek spoke about his early romances and stated, “I’ve had very few serious girlfriends. I was very clear when I was in college. I was studying, I had already started business, I was investing in the stock market. I didn’t have time. I was very clear that I wasn’t interested in a serious, committed relationship. This was also because my childhood sweetheart died of Cancer.”
Vivek went on to explain why he declined to endure another heartbreak and said, “I didn’t want to go through more heartbreak, and I decided that only casual relationships work for me. I don’t count many of those as ‘girlfriends’. But when I’ve loved, I’ve loved with all my heart. I’ve always been honest; I’ve never cheated on anyone. I’ve been transparent and true.”
In an earlier YouTube interview with Anas Bukhash, Vivek stated that a number of his ex-partners attended his wedding. He said, “I stayed friends with a lot of my casual girlfriends and a lot of them even came to my wedding.”
He also talked about a bad former relationship that made him wary of love. “I didn’t want to get married; I was partying away. I was like, ‘No serious relationships. It’s too much stress, too much complications.’ I had my fatherly emotion satisfied with my nieces and nephews. So, I was like, ‘Why to get married?’” His mother encouraged him to meet Priyanka Alva, and they married in 2010. They have two children together.
On the work front, Vivek last appeared in the Rohit Shetty-directed series Indian Police Force, which was available on Amazon Prime Video. The show also included Sidharth Malhotra and Shilpa Shetty.
