Actor Vivek Oberoi recently shed light on his entrepreneurial ventures and the role his father, actor-politician Suresh Oberoi, played in shaping his business mindset. In an interview with Entertainment Live, Vivek recounted how his father introduced him to the world of business when he was just 10 years old.

“My father approached me and said we’d go on a holiday in a month, but before that, he wanted to teach me something over the first four weeks. He asked me to track the inventory of perfumes he had purchased for me and sell them. Whatever I managed to sell beyond the marked price would be mine,” Vivek shared. This early exercise helped him understand fundamental business concepts like accounting and sales.

Venturing Into the Stock Market at 15

By the age of 15, Vivek was already venturing into the stock market and taking on small entrepreneurial projects. “I began developing my own ideas and started exploring the stock market at 15,” he said. His father’s early lessons, such as selling perfumes door to door, played a significant role in giving him the confidence to pursue these ventures.

At the age of 19, Vivek founded his first tech company, which he later sold to an MNC at 22. “That’s when I realized it was possible to establish a company, sell it to an MNC, and help both investors and myself earn money,” Vivek added.

Overcoming Film Industry Challenges Through Entrepreneurship

Vivek shared that his entrepreneurial success gave him the strength to navigate the challenges in his acting career. “When my film career faced hurdles, I felt capable and confident that I could do something on my own. That was the point when my journey restarted,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of giving 100% in everything, whether it’s business, films, or philanthropy. “There should be no mistake in hard work from my side. When we do that, the result would mostly be good. Sometimes you get tired because of the workload, but when the team and people are so good, you join forces,” Vivek said, emphasizing the value of collaboration.

Project Hope and the Power of Collective Effort

Reflecting on one of his significant philanthropic projects, Vivek spoke about his experience during the 2004 tsunami. He launched “Project Hope,” a platform that mobilized efforts to provide aid without focusing on individual recognition. “During the 2004 tsunami, I realized that if I raised my flag saying, ‘I am Vivek Oberoi,’ it wouldn’t work. So, I created Project Hope, a collective platform with no boss or owner,” he recalled. This experience taught him the power of collaboration and the importance of working together for a larger cause.
