Actor Vivek Oberoi, once celebrated as a heartthrob after his 2002 Bollywood hit Saathiya, has opened up about the struggles he faced in the film industry, attributing much of his career's downturn to systemic lobbying. In a candid interview with India News, Vivek discussed the challenges he encountered and how he chose to navigate them.

Vivek’s career skyrocketed with critically acclaimed performances in films like Company and Saathiya in 2002. However, despite his initial success, his subsequent film choices did not resonate with audiences, leading to a series of box office failures. His personal life also drew significant media attention, which compounded his professional difficulties.

Vivek Oberoi’s Claims of Lobbying and Career Impact

Reflecting on his career trajectory, Oberoi stated, "I have been doing other businesses for a while now. There was a phase in my life where my movies were hits, performance was appreciated, yet for other reasons, if you are not getting any role at all, when you become the victim of a system and lobby, you are left with just two options: get all depressed or take it as a challenge and write your own destiny. I chose to walk on the latter path."

Vivek’s relationship with actress Aishwarya Rai and his public feud with her ex-boyfriend, actor Salman Khan, also played a role in the challenges he faced. In a highly publicised press conference, he accused Salman of sabotaging his career, which further strained his standing in the industry. As controversies died down, Vivek's presence in Bollywood waned.

Most recently, Vivek appeared as a cop in Rohit Shetty's debut web series Indian Police Force, part of Shetty's expansive cop universe. The series, which also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Shilpa Shetty Kundra, showcases Vivek's versatility and continued relevance in the industry.
