Kapil Sharma's popular prime-time TV show The Kapil Sharma Show took over the top trends on Twitter on Tuesday morning following a tweet by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri. The filmmaker was asked by a fan to promote his upcoming film The Kashmir Files on The Kapil Sharma Show. However, the filmmaker revealed that the show makers refused to promote the film on the show.

The Kapil Sharma Show has a massive audience across the country and every actor appears on the show ahead of the release of their projects to promote their films or other projects.

On Monday, Vivek Agnihotri took to his Twitter handle to respond to a fan who requested him to promote The Kashmir Files on Kapil's show. Responding to it, Vivek said, "I don’t get to decide who should be invited on @KapilSharmaK9 show. It’s his and his producer’s choice whom he wants to invite. As far as Bollywood is concerned, I’d say what once Mr. Bachchan was quoted saying about Gandhis: Vo raja hai hum rank.”

In another tweet, the filmmaker claimed that the show refused to promote his film as it did not have a big commercial star. “They refused to call us on their show because we don’t have big commercial star. #FACT,” read the tweet.

The filmmaker's revelations raged a section of netizens who demanded a boycott of the show. Several also trolled Kapil leading to him trending on top on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Kapil has so far not made a comment on the matter.

The Kashmir Files starring Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty in pivotal roles will be released in theatres on March 11, 2022.
