Vikrant Massey on 12th Fail success, “Don’t think the film only did well because of me” 12 : Bollywood News

Vikrant Massey is currently going through a golden patch in his career. He has had his first solo box office hit in the form of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12^th Fail. He is also about to be a father for the first time with his wife and actress Sheetal Massey. As far as 12^th Fail is concerned, the actor believes that it won’t be right to credit him alone for the film’s triumph.

Vikrant said in a statement, “My heart is full. I couldn't have asked for anything better. When people walked out (of the theatre), they thanked us for making the film and that’s what matters most. I don't think the film only did well because of me. The cast was equally responsible. It would be stupid of me to say, I am the only sellable face in the film. The film's story was bigger than anyone.”

In recent years, Vikrant has also impressed the audiences with his roles in web shows like Mirzapur, Criminal Justice and Made In Heaven, along with films like Lootera and A Death In The Gunj.

Reflecting on his journey so far, Vikrant added, “I have done around 25 films in 10 years. Bollywood is one of the most democratic, robust and progressive communities, but I won't call it a family. People have given me a lot of support. If they didn’t recognise my talent, I wouldn’t be here. I prioritised consistency (in my career). The idea was to win people’s trust and not just get attention.”

12^th Fail is inspired from the life of real IPS (Indian Police Force) officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. The film also stars Medha Shankar, Sanjay Bishnoi and Anant V Joshi.
