Now this is one ‘kahaani’ that is turning out to be quite murky even though just the first (and very impressive) promo has been unveiled. That’s because Vidya Balan is challenged not just by the fact that she has to begin extensive promotion for her film all over again after The Dirty Picture, but she also has to play a balancing act between her real life and reel life beau.
“Vidya is finding herself on the crossroads because Kahaani releases on the same day as Chaar Din Ki Chandni and Paan Singh Tomar. So what’s the connection here? Well, Chaar Din Ki Chandni features Tusshar Kapoor in the lead who was her on-screen beau in The Dirty Picture. On the other hand Paan Singh Tomar is produced by UTV Motion Pictures of which Siddharth Roy Kapur, her real life partner, is the CEO. Vidya would have wanted a solo release for Kahaani but she can neither ask Tusshar nor Siddharth to postpone their films for her sake”, says a close associate.
9th March, the date on which the three way clash happens, wasn’t the original choice for either of these films. Both Kahaani and Chaar Din Ki Chandni were earlier supposed to arrive this month whereas Paan Singh Tomar (which features Irrfan Khan and Mahie Gill in the lead) has already been delayed by a couple of years. However, now that the makers are finding this date to be the most lucrative of them all, many are wondering if Vidya would be a tad upset about the sudden developments.
“She shares great relationships with Balaji folks and recently there was a party hosted to celebrate the film’s success and also her 33rd birthday. She and Tusshar bonded all over again and continue to share great off screen camaraderie as well. It would be disappointing for both if any of the two films suffer due to a clash”, says an insider, “On the other hand, matters of heart can’t really stop Siddharth from going ahead as per his company’s plans. If UTV stays firm on Paan Singh Tomar to eventually make it to screens on the designated date, Siddharth won’t allow his personal equation with Vidya to change any plans.”
Meanwhile as things stand today, makers of at least Kahaani and Chaar Din Ki Chandni are going ahead as planned. While Vidya confirms that 9th March is indeed D-day, director Sujoy Ghosh has already released the film’s First Look. On the other hand, Tusshar too confirmed that the Sameer Karnik film would indeed arrive on the same day as Kahaani.
Guess the ball is in the court of Siddharth, who was unavailable for comment.
