Sharing the clip on social media, Vedang Raina spoke about the mix of nervousness and excitement he felt while recording with Rahman. He admitted that he had to consciously remind himself to stay composed during the session. “Not too long ago I was making covers of @arrahman compositions. Now I get to collaborate with him. I really don’t have the words to describe how I’m feeling right now. I dedicate this to that little boy who dreamed of this,” he wrote.

He also reflected on his early admiration for Rahman’s music, adding, “Who heard the Roja album on repeat. Thank you @imtiazaliofficial for trusting me to be a part of your vision. I hope I could do justice. ‘Maskara’ out now on all streaming platforms. Go listen.”

The song 'Maskara,' which also features vocals by Nilanjana Ghosh and lyrics by Irshad Kamil, explores the nuances of young love. It focuses on understated emotions, hesitation, and the quiet intensity that often defines early relationships. The composition has drawn attention for its minimalistic arrangement and melodic structure, aligning with Rahman’s signature style.

The film itself has been building anticipation, especially after the release of its teaser and the title track Kya Kamaal Hai by Diljit Dosanjh. Set within Imtiaz Ali’s familiar narrative space of romance and longing, Main Vaapas Aaunga features an ensemble cast that includes Naseeruddin Shah and Sharvari Wagh alongside Vedang Raina.

Backed by Applause Entertainment and Window Seat Films, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 12, 2026. With its music already gaining traction, 'Maskara' appears to have added to the film’s growing buzz, while also marking a notable moment in Vedang Raina’s career as he collaborates with one of the country’s most celebrated composers.
