Varun Dhawan has given a fitting reply to online trolls following the blockbuster success of Border 2. Ahead of the film’s release, the actor faced criticism and memes on social media, particularly centered around his smile in the song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’. The visuals became widely circulated, with several users questioning the casting choice. However, the film’s strong audience response has now put those criticisms to rest.
In Border 2, Varun Dhawan plays the role of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a performance that has been positively received. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film is a sequel to the 1997 war classic Border and is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India–Pakistan war. Released on January 23, Border 2 has recorded a strong opening at the box office and is set to enter the Rs. 200 Crore Club today, indicating robust audience turnout and word-of-mouth.
Following the film’s impressive box office run, Varun shared a heartfelt note on Instagram on January 26. Posting a picture of himself in his car, surrounded by fans, he wrote, “Border 2. Love will always triumph hate. Thank you 🙏.” The post served as a subtle yet powerful response to the criticism he faced, while acknowledging the unwavering support of his fans.
Ahead of the film’s release, Varun addressed the trolling during the Braves Of The Soil tribute trailer launch. Commenting on the criticism, he said, “I believe that you shut down the noise and just let your work do the talking. Yeh sab cheezein chalti rehti hai. It doesn’t really matter. Main iske liye kaam karta hoon. Main jis cheeze k liye kaam karta hoon woh iss Friday ko pata chalega.” He further stated that audiences ultimately seek good films and entertainment, and expressed confidence in the film’s content.
