Twinkle Khanna gives thumbs up to Akshay Kumar’s performance in Mission Raniganj; latter says, “I’m getting validation”

Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, starring Akshay Kumar, was released in theatres on Friday. In a recent press conference, the actor candidly shared how his wife Twinkle described his performance in the film. He said, "I'm getting validation from my wife," as he was distracted by his phone pinging amid the interaction.

He then read out her message, "You are getting great reviews. It is an award-winning performance. I am so proud of you." Akshay also shared how he's not looking at the commercial aspect of the film and wants people to stop measuring a film's success by its box office performance. He said that it puts a lot of pressure on him.

Talking about choosing a film that celebrates the life of an unsung hero, Kumar said, "We are going through a very nice phase where people are doing all kinds of films, and they are working. I have done this kind of film and that kind (masala potboilers) as well. I just say don't pressurise a film by thinking that this film will do that business. When it comes to me, as I said, I can do that kind of film and get that kind of (box office) numbers also. I am happy doing this kind of film also, something that brings a change in the society, but they (the audience) like me in other films also. It's a mixed bag."

Mission Raniganj is a biographical drama film directed by Tinu Suresh Desai. It is based on the true story of Jaswant Singh Gill, a mining engineer who saved the lives of 65 miners trapped in a flooded coal mine in 1989.
