Twinkle Khanna drop cryptic clue about her new book: “I’ll give you one clue. It’s been ten years”

Twinkle Khanna has stirred buzz on social media after sharing a mysterious hint regarding her next book. In a recent Instagram post, she wrote, "While I keep experimenting with new formats, one thing never changes - I keep writing. My next book arrives later this month. What do you think it’s about? I’ll give you one clue. It’s been ten years.”

That ten-year clue has set her fans and followers abuzz with speculation. Many are wondering whether the upcoming work might be a sequel to her debut bestseller Mrs Funnybones: She’s Just Like You and a Lot Like Me, which released in 2015. Comments on her post ranged from hopeful to playful. “I really wish it’s ‘Mrs. Funnybones 2’!” Another added, "Wishing it’s Mrs. Funnybones part 2.” Other wrote, “Mrs. Funnybones part 2?”

Twinkle’s literary journey so far has been varied and successful. After Mrs Funnybones, she released The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad in 2016 a collection of socially-inspired stories — followed by the novel Pyjamas Are Forgiving in 2018, and most recently Welcome to Paradise in 2023, which marked a more introspective turn in her writing.

On the work front, Twinkle remains active beyond writing: she co-hosts the talk-show Two Much alongside Kajol, where their tongue-in-cheek humour has drawn attention with guest appearances including Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan.

Though the author hasn’t confirmed exactly whether this new book is Mrs Funnybones 2, the ten-year reference and fan reactions suggest it’s at least on many readers’ wish-lists. We’ll have to wait until “later this month,” as Twinkle’s post promised, for official word on title, timing and theme.
