Twinkle Khanna has responded to the online backlash surrounding a comment she made about infidelity on an episode of her talk show Two Much With Kajol And Twinkle. The remark—which quickly went viral—was made during a fun segment where she casually said, “Raat gayi, baat gayi” while discussing infidelity in relationships.
The comment sparked widespread conversation on social media. Addressing the criticism, Twinkle clarified that her statement was intended as a joke and not meant to be taken seriously. Speaking to The Times of India, she said, “It was part of a light-hearted game. It was not meant as a serious debate.”
Twinkle went on to explain how she would have approached the topic if the conversation had been serious. She said she would have discussed the evolution of monogamy—from early nomadic societies to settled agricultural communities—and how concepts of lineage and family structures shaped the idea. “That is a serious debate,” she added. “This was just a joke and it was a light-hearted moment.”
The episode featured Twinkle, Kajol, Karan Johar, and Janhvi Kapoor. During one segment, they were asked, “Which is worse, emotional cheating or physical cheating?” While Twinkle, Kajol, and Karan appeared to take a lighter stance on physical infidelity, Janhvi disagreed and called it a deal-breaker, leading to a lively discussion.
In the same interview, Twinkle also spoke about her growing bond with Kajol. She shared that although they hadn’t been close earlier, they developed a warm connection over time. “She is also someone who doesn’t play games; what you see is what you get,” Twinkle said.
