The American version of So You Think You Can Dance has had many dance forms to explore – from jazz to salsa to waltz. But did you know that the show totally loves Bollywood genre too? Well, yes, Bollywood is a popular dance form with all its tadka [spice] and adaa [grace] that has now attracted the attention of the international dancers too. And the proof? So You Think You Can Dance featured two contestants dancing on the popular track ‘Badri Ki Dulhania’ from the Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt starrer Badrinath Ki Dulhania.

Contestants of So You Think You Can Dance, Magda and Darius left the audiences stunned with their remake of ‘Badri Ki Dulhania’ which they performed on the 10^th episode. The dance reality show, which is in its 15^th season, saw the two of them groove to the title track of Badrinath Ki Dulhania which released in 2017. While the performance was appreciated, the contestants also managed to replicate the Holi backdrop that is used in the original.

Magda and Darius were dressed in traditional costumes and they even sported the holi colours on their costumes. Their dance was said to be choreographed by American Bollywood dancer Nakul Dev Mahajan, who has previously choreographed a few Indian performances for the show. Here’s a glimpse of the dance performed by Magda and Darius that has gone viral on the web.

Speaking of the original, the song was sung by Dev Negi, Neha Kakkar, Monali Thakur and Ikka. The composer was Tanishk Bagchi and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. The film Badrinath Ki Dulhania was directed by Shashank Khaitan who had earlier directed Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania with the same couple in the lead. The film did well at the box office but received a tad bit of criticism for some of its scenes.
