Anurag Kashyap's next, Gangs Of Wasseypur 2, based on the coal mafia in the Jharkhand hinterland shows the deep rooted influence of Bollywood on the Indian masses. His leading characters, Faizal Khan, Mohsina and Definite played by Nawazuddin, Huma Quershi and Zeishan Quadri respectively, seem to be hugely inspired by the Bollywood stars. Faizal Khan's character played by Nawazuddin is very obviously mesmerized by the angry young man, Amitabh Bachchan. Not only does he sport the dreadlocks and bell bottoms a la Big B of 70s in the film but also talks and walks like the superstar. In a scene from Part 1, when someone mentions Amitabh in Zanjeer, Faizal gets up from a reclining position in the same way Big B did in his first appearance in that film.
Nawazuddin says, "When I got to know my look is inspired by Amit ji of the 70s in the film, it just added on to the excitement I had for playing my character. I am a huge Amitabh Bachchan fan and have seen all his films from the 70s to get the look right. Everything from that iconic scarf he has around his neck in films like Coolie, Namak Halal to his body posture and specially those bellbottoms. I hope I have managed to do justice to the look."
While Nawazuddin is inspired from Bachchan, his love interest Mohsina played by Huma Qureshi is in awe of the Dhak Dhak girl, Madhuri Dixit. Her sunglasses-and-blue-dress-avatar is reminiscent of Madhuri Dixit's look in the 'Didi Tera Dewar Deewana' song from Hum Aapke Hain Koun. Apart from this, Huma will also sport the innocent looks a la Madhuri from Dil Toh Pagal Hai.
Definite, played by Zeeshan Quadri is modeled on Salman Khan. He sports Sallu's Tere Naam hairstyle and even mouths Sallu's famous dialogue from Maine Pyar Kiya.
Even Perpendicular (Sardar Khan's younger son) is a Munnabhai character fanatic.
