Dhurandhar The Revenge, which released on March 18, is in the news not just for its historic collections but also for the polarizing reactions it has generated. A review by a Pakistani-based family has especially gone viral. It features a group of people coming out of a theatre in a foreign country and criticizing the film. While a middle-aged man commented, “I have never seen such a third-class film in my life,” a woman rued, “If there’s any worse word than ‘ghatiya’ and ‘third-class’, it would apply to this film.” One young man smiled and said, “Bahut hi ghatiya film thi. Matlab kuch bhi…”
What shocked netizens the most, however, was a youngster smiling and saying, “As Major Iqbal said, ‘Hum phir se aayenge, hum phir ghusenge, hum phir maarenge’.” He also claimed to have spoken to a director in Pakistan and said that they would make a film that would give tough competition to Dhurandhar. He then chanted, “Major Iqbal zindabad” along with the rest of the family.
The video has outraged many Indians and one of them is trade veteran Taran Adarsh. Reacting to the video, he asked, “Why didn’t they see the two Pakistani films which were released on Eid? I don’t even want to take the names of those films as I don’t want to give them unnecessary publicity.”
He further thundered, “If they hated Dhurandhar The Revenge so much, why did they sit through the whole film for 4 hours? They could have simply walked out. They are passing comments that it’s a third-grade film. Then, why didn’t they leave within the first 30 minutes? Instead, they gave four precious hours of their life to this film. Kamaal ka patience hai inka!”
Dhurandhar The Revenge is produced by Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios and Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar’s B62 Studios. It is directed by Aditya Dhar and stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and others.
