Actor Imran Khan recently spoke about the kind of roles he hopes to take up as he prepares for his acting comeback, sharing his thoughts during an interaction with fans on Reddit. The conversation touched on current trends in mainstream Hindi cinema as well as the possibility of him exploring stories centred on LGBTQ themes.

Responding to a fan who urged him not to move toward the macho action space that is currently popular, Imran wrote, “Yeah, no interest in playing a hairy angry man covered in blood. I think that genre is generously represented.”
The comment comes at a time when high-intensity action dramas such as Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor and the recently released Dhurandhar franchise featuring Ranveer Singh have shaped conversations around the evolving tone of commercial Hindi cinema.
Open to LGBTQ stories but mindful of representation
During the same interaction, Imran also addressed a question about whether he would consider working in a film centred on LGBTQ themes. “I’ve long been an ally to LGBTQ causes, and I believe in every person’s right to self determination and identity. I would gladly participate in a movie about this, but I also don’t want to be guilty of queerbaiting so I try to be sensitive while reading scripts,” he shared.
Imran made his debut with Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na and was widely seen as one of the promising young actors of his generation at the time. However, after the release of Katti Batti in 2015, he stepped away from acting for several years. He returned to the screen earlier this year with a cameo appearance in Happy Patel. His next outing as a lead actor will be Adhure Hum Adhure Tum, directed by Danish Aslam and co-starring Bhumi Pednekar.
