Tamannaah Bhatiarecently performed intimate scenes in the anthology film Lust Stories 2, in which she shared the screen with Vijay Varma. However, she has been subjected to misogynistic comments as a result. Tamannaah openly addressed the issue, highlighting the double standards in the industry where female actors are quickly judged for their choices, while male actors are celebrated as superstars.

In a conversation with journalist Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Tamannaah expressed, “The misogyny is so stark in my face. I was hoping by 2023 that would not be the case, but this time around it felt really stark, primarily because when I started being an actor and I was really young, I was still dancing and looking glamorous. So it’s not that I have had a non glamorous image and now all of a sudden it is turned into something. I just found it strange that even in 2023, why does a female actor need to have this definition… Like if she is doing intimate scenes, it is a personal attack.”

“I have seen men do it all the time, play abusive characters, do violence and probably all kinds of things that are illegal, but they become superstars. But an actress, all of a sudden, has a bad character. Which makes no sense, I can’t wrap my head around it,” she added.

Tamannaah also opened up on the comments she came across in her career. She said, “I have read stuff like, ‘Isko kya majboori hai ki ye aise scenes kar rahi hai (What was her helplessness to do intimate scenes like these)’. I found that strange because if tomorrow I play a serial killer, will that make me a bad person?”

Talking about her recent project Lust Stories 2, Tamannaah shared screen space with her boyfriend and actor Vijay Varma in Sujiy Ghosh’s segment in the anthology. The film, released on June 29, is streaming on Netflix. The ensemble star cast of the film in the rest of the three segments includes Amruta Shubhash, Angad Bedi, Kajol, Kumud Mishra, Mrunal Thakur, Neena Gupta, and Tillotama Shome.
