Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s lead actor Dilip Joshi became a household name in the last 12 years after he became a part of the show. The actor has been in the industry since 1989 but he was not always a well-known actor. He had started by doing a few movies here and there that included the likes of One 2 Ka 4, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Maine Pyaar Kiya among the others.

However, despite not getting enough roles, he did not give up on his passion of acting and went on to doing roles in theatres where he worked as a backstage artist. Recalling those days, he said that no one would give him roles back in the day and he would get paid only Rs. 50. However, that did not deter him from following his passion and said that he enjoyed his time as a backstage artist. Watching hundreds of people laughing on the jokes and punchlines written by him would always make him happy.

The actor is currently being seen on Asit Modi’s show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as Jethalal and his character is adored by the viewers.
