With Super 30 and HR vs Tiger, will Hrithik Roshan finally be back in the game?

Since the beginning of this decade, Hrithik Roshan has worked in 8 films, out of which merely 3 films i.e. Zindagi Naa Milegi Doobara, Agneepath and Krrish 3, lived onto the humongous expectations. From the other 5 films, 3 of them i.e. Kites, Guzaarish and Mohenjo Daro were outright flops. His other two films, i.e. Bang Bang and Kaabil were not loss-making prepositions, however under-performed at the Box-Office when compared to the trade expectations.

With Super 30 and HR vs Tiger, will Hrithik Roshan finally be back in the game?

An important point to note here is the fact that it has been 5 years since the release of Krrish 3, which was the last Hrithik Roshan film that surpassed all expectations and collected in excess of Rs 200 crore at the Indian Box-Office. The problem with Hrithik Roshan is that the actor has tremendous fan following and appeals to audience across the country, but he hasn’t quite chosen the scripts that does justice to his stardom.

Stardom is often judged by the opening day collections of the film, and in this decade Hrithik Roshan delivered two bumper openers in the form of Agneepath (Record Opener) and Bang Bang (Record Opener with clash). Even Krrish 3 would have been a record opener; however the biz was majorly affected due to the Pre-Diwali release. The opening day collections of his films prove that he is indeed one of the most bankable stars of India; however it is the script sense which has gone wrong in the last few years. To add onto that, the superstar has done far too less films as compared to other actors of the industry and despite being choosy about his work, the results have not been quite encouraging as far as the Box-Office collections are concerned.

Roshan, who made a debut in 2000 with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai has always been touted as the next big thing after the three mighty Khan’s, and even proved his worth last decade by acting in successful films like Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish, Dhoom 2, and Jodhaa Akbar. Even today, with the right film if there is any actor in the industry who can compete or even defeat the Three Khan’s, it has to be Hrithik Roshan.

Both Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan have been choosy about their work; however what separates the two is the fact that Khan more often than not delivers, whereas Roshan has failed to do the same. However, it seems that the Hrithik has finally started signing more scripts. For the first time since 2010, Hrithik will have two releases in 2019 in the form of Super 30 and HR vs Tiger wherein both the films look promising from the face of it. While Super 30 is the biopic of mathematician Anand Kumar, HR vs Tiger is a big budget action entertainer produced by YRF, which also stars Tiger Shroff in lead.

Apart from the above-mentioned films, Hrithik Roshan will also start shooting for Krrish 4 and 5 simultaneously which are expected to release in 2020 and 2021 respectively. Roshan Jr. is also reportedly in talks with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Sajid Nadiadwala and Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra for a film each, however nothing has been locked in this regard yet. With so many films in the pipeline, we can definitely say that Hrithik Roshan will be back in action from 2019.
