Sunita Ahuja, wife of actor Govinda, has spoken candidly about her marriage and the challenges she has faced over the years. In a conversation with Sambhavna Seth on her vlog, Sunita admitted that she and the 90s superstar have been living in separate homes for over a decade and a half, while also responding to ongoing speculation about their relationship.
Sharing her perspective on the situation, Sunita said, “The problem is that there are people in his family who don’t want to see Govinda and me together. Today, I don’t have a friend circle, my children are my friends.”
She revealed that despite their long-standing arrangement of living separately, her love for Govinda remains unchanged. “Chi Chi [Govinda] and I have been living in separate homes for 15 years, though he keeps coming and going. A man who hurts a good woman will never find happiness; he will always remain restless. I gave him my entire life since my youth, and even today, I love him deeply. Yes, I’m hurt because I hear the rumours too, but I stay strong because I have my children.”
Sunita did not shy away from addressing whispers about infidelity either, pointing to the impact such rumours have on family. “It’s very shameful. At this age, when your children have grown up, what are you doing? Even the children ask, but some people are used to lying, and they just keep lying again and again.” She also took a sharp dig at the industry’s changing dynamics, remarking, “Nowadays, some girls come into the film world with the mindset of finding a sugar daddy. Unless I catch them, it’s fine, but if I do, then remember, I have Sunny Deol’s 5 kg hand.”
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja tied the knot in 1987, and together they share two children, Tina Ahuja—who made her Bollywood debut with Second Hand Husband in 2015—and son Yashvardhan Ahuja, who has been assisting in films and is expected to step into acting. Over the years, the couple has faced ups and downs, but Sunita’s latest statements shed rare light on the personal struggles behind the star’s public life.
