Suniel Shetty talks about South vs Bollywood row – “Content is king! Whether it’s South, North, East, West doesn’t matter” : Bollywood News

With the South vs Bollywood row taking on new turns every day, Suniel Shetty, who actually hails from South but is a popular Bollywood star had an interesting take on it. The actor, who was recently tweeting on Twitter owing to someone wrongly tagging him on a tobacco post, maintained a stance that supports content solely.

Veteran actor Suniel Shetty, who has ruled the screens during the 90s, said, “I think woh create kia gaya hai social media pe. We are India and I think with the coming of the OTT platform apne realize kiya hoga ki language doesn't matter. It is the content that matters and I mean Bollywood aur South Africa ka farak yahi hai. I mean I come from the south also, but meri karma bhoomi Mumbai hai toh I will always say I'm a Mumbaikar.”

According to him, content is made for audience and they should be taken into consideration. Keeping that in mind, he added, “The fact is the audience. Audience yeh decision le rahi hai ki kaunsi film unhe dekhni chahiye dekhi nahi chahiye. Mera problem ek hi hai ki somewhere down the line we've forgotten the audience. We are not catering to them. Somewhere down the line Heroism has moved out, hero nahi rahe and cinema is always there.”

Talking about the comparison between OTT and cinema, Suniel Shetty concluded, “Humesha log mujhse yeh kehte hai ki Cinema or OTT. Baap baap rahega, baaki ke family members, family members rahenge. Toh aap filmon ke baare mein nahi sochenge? 70% of India is an audience jo seeti bajati hai. Hero ka shot back shot hota hai, high speed walk hoti hai. So I think it is the content that needs to work and Bollywood hamesha Bollywood hi rahega all India mein pehchanege toh Bollywood ke heroes ko toh pehchaan hi lenge na. So I think it’s a question of time. I think ek aisi journey hai jahan humein dobara sochna hai to give better content. Finally content is king! whether it's South, North, East, West doesn't matter.”
