Sriram Raghavan opens up about his film with Agastya Nanda; says, “Ekkis is not going to be the Amar Chitra Katha version of that story”

en Bollywood News Sriram Raghavan opens up about his film with Agastya Nanda; says, “Ekkis is not going to be the Amar Chitra Katha version of that story”

Ekkis is based on the life of military officer Arun Khetarpal, the recipient of the honorable Param Vir Chakra.

Sriram Raghavan, who’s known for his unconventional films recently won hearts with his intriguing suspense thriller Merry Christmas. Now, the filmmaker is all set to bring forth Agastya Nanda and Dharmendra together in yet another heartwarming story of real-life hero Arun Khetarpal in Ekkis. The film will mark the big screen debut of Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, who made his film debut with The Archies. Recently, the director opened up about the film and gave audiences a sneak peek into what they can expect from it.

Sriram Raghavan opens up about his film with Agastya Nanda; says, “Ekkis is not going to be the Amar Chitra Katha version of that story”

In an interview with PTI, Sriram Raghavan was seen describing how Ekkis will have multiple elements of a martyred hero’s life. “It is not going to be the Amar Chitra Katha version of that story. It is not like this was his childhood and all that. It is about this young officer, who was martyred two months after his 21st birthday. It’s during this time when a boy becomes a man,” he said.

In the same breath, he also added how the film will see Arun through different phases of his life. “Then something happens 30 years later, which is again interesting… It is a bigger production, there will be tank battles, and all those things that happen in a war film. But it is also a human story, it’s a drama, a coming-of-age kind of a thing,” he shared.

For the unversed, Arun Khetarpal was a Second Lieutenant in the Indian Army who received the honor of Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military award, for his exemplary valour and courage. He was killed in action in the Battle of Basantar at Shakargarh during the India-Pakistan War of 1971. In the past, Allu Sirish was seen as Lt Chinmay in the 2017 Malayalam film 1971: Beyond Borders, which was a role inspired by Khetarpal’s character.
