Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was admitted to the hospital on the morning of February 17, 2026. While details regarding his health condition have not been officially disclosed, the development has prompted concern among family, friends and well-wishers. After the news of his hospitalisation, his son, actor Salman Khan, was spotted arriving at the hospital. He appeared visibly concerned and did not address the media gathered outside.
Amid the outpouring of support, Salman’s former partner Somy Ali shared a heartfelt note on social media, describing Salim Khan as both a legendary writer and a personal mentor figure in her life.
“Hearing that Salim Khan has been hospitalized made my heart sink. To the world, he is a legendary writer who helped shape icons like Amitabh Bachchan and co-created masterpieces like Sholay. To me, he was a father figure,” she wrote.
She further added, “Living in his home, I was treated like a daughter, included at the table, engaged in deep conversations about faith, where all religions were respected and celebrated. He taught me that God is bigger than doctrine, and that storytelling must always carry truth beneath the drama.”

Several members of the Khan family were later seen visiting the facility, including Salma Khan, Helen, Alvira Agnihotri, Ayaan Agnihotri, Arhaan Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sshura Khan. Actor Sanjay Dutt, a close friend of Salman, was also photographed at the hospital.
Salim Khan, along with long-time collaborator Javed Akhtar, formed the iconic Salim-Javed duo that reshaped Hindi cinema in the 1970s and 1980s. Together, they penned landmark films such as Sholay, Deewar, Zanjeer, Don, Trishul, Yaadon Ki Baaraat and Seeta Aur Geeta, among others. In 2024, their journey was chronicled in the documentary series Angry Young Men, released on Amazon Prime Video.
