Six newcomer actors launched in a big way with ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’

Makers of Pyaar Ka Punchnama are a happy lot. Buoyed by the fabulous response that the innovative theatrical promo managed for itself, the makers have now gone ahead and flooded the music channels with the song and dance numbers as well. As expected, the youthful appeal generated by the film has worked in its favour and the music too is now finding good visibility for itself.

Says filmmaker Kumar Mangat who has entrusted the responsibility of Pyaar Ka Punchnama production to his son Abhishek, "We knew we had a big idea in hand for Pyaar Ka Punchnama. Once we liked what (writer/director) Luv Ranjan brought to us, we wanted to back it up to the fullest. Right from the scale at which the film was set or the promotion, there was no way we were going to cut corners on it. With this film, we are launching six newcomer actors in a big way."

With a budget of around Rs.12 crores, the makers believe that they are setting a benchmark for others when it comes to making films with newcomers who don't belong to filmy families and are instead rank outsiders.

"I don't remember when was the last time such huge money was spent on the making of a film with absolute newcomers", says an industry insider, "I guess Ishk Vishk was the last time a musical was made with a fresher though one can't deny the fact that Shahid Kapoor still had some filmy connections. In case of Pyaar Ka Punchnama none of the actors come with any Bollywood backing, be it Kartik Tiwari, Rayo Bhakirta, Divyendu Sharma, Nushrat Bharucha, Sonalli Sehgall or Ishita Sharma."

The makers are also cognizant of the fact that they are surrounded by other romcoms like Luv Ka The End and Always Kabhi Kabhi. However the way talkie as well as song promos of Pyaar Ka Punchnama have picked up and enquiries have started coming in from all quarters, Pathak family is only turning more aggressive with every passing day en route to the 20th May release date.

Says Abhishek Pathak who did his own market research before green lighting this film as his first production, "Youngsters from not just the metros but even interiors have responded quite positively to Pyaar Ka Punchnama. My confidence also comes from the fact that those who have seen the film have loved it for its freshness, straight out of life situations and most importantly the youth appeal."

With the hard work of creating visibility around the film leading to desired results, now it is time for the family to keep the momentum on for Pyaar Ka Punchnama.

"With such tremendous feedback coming in, I and dad are going all out to bring the film closer to the audience. We are leaving no stones unturned. It is a youthful comedy with a classy feel to it. Rest assured, audience would be content with what they see on screen", promises the young producer before signing off.
