It's funny and sad how one Friday can change relationships, clout and equations. There are flops and then there's Anjaana Anjaani. The thundering fiasco had a Tsunami-like effect on the talented Siddharth Anand's career. There was an immediate fall-out with producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who had assigned the direction of the Chetan Bhagat novel '2 States' to Siddharth. The offer was quickly passed on to Vishal Bhardwaj.

Anjaana Anjaani's leading man Ranbir Kapoor who also happens to be Siddharth's childhood friend and therefore Siddharth had the singular privilege of directing Ranbir in two films, also opted out of future project with his bachpan ka saathi.

Says a source, "Ranbir doesn't want to mix business with pleasure. He'd rather keep his friendship with Siddharth away from work. After being the only director with whom Ranbir has done two films (Bachna Ae Haseenon and Anjaana Anjaani) Siddharth Anand is no more a part of Ranbir's future scheme of things."

Significantly, Siddharth Anand apart, Ranbir never likes to repeat directors.

Siddharth quickly gravitated towards his other buddy Saif Ali Khan. For a while we heard of Siddharth directing a film for Saif's production house. That too fizzled out after the enormity of the failure of Anjaana Anjaani sank in. News that Siddharth was the first director to have a fall-out with Sajid Nadiadwala spread across the film industry.

Says a source, "Sajid Nadiadwala trusted Siddharth completely with Anjaana Anjaani. Sajid never questioned Siddharth over anything in Anjaana Anjaani. The director said he wanted to show those sights in the topography of the US that had never been seen before. Sajid let the funds flow. The end-result left all involved stunned."

Isolated, Siddharth has gone into a self-searching introspective mode to figure out where he went wrong.

The director has now found a comforting friend in Shahid Kapoor .The two have lately become close friends .Shahid has drawn Siddharth out of his shell, encouraging him to start another film at the earliest. Siddharth Anand smarting under the blow that was Anjaana Anjaani is in the process of signing Shahid Kapoor for his next.

Shahid doesn't deny his new dosti with Siddharth Anand. "We are friends. And we're doing a film together," says Shahid.
