Filmmaker Siddharth Anand has reacted to comedian Zakir Khan’s monologue at a recent Bollywood awards show, where the latter made a humorous remark referencing the impact of Dhurandhar on the industry. Anand appeared to criticise the comment in a social media post that defended the contribution of Mumbai’s film fraternity.
During his hosting segment at the event, Zakir Khan joked: “Kitne hi congratulatory post aap daal dein, kitni hi Stories daal dein, kitne hi interview mein aap bol dein my favourite film, magar sach toh yeh hai ki Dhurandhar se sabki jalti toh hai. Bomb film mein phootein Lyari mein, par dhuan udaa hai Bandra se Juhu mein.”
Reacting to the remark, Siddharth Anand shared a post that many interpreted as a pointed response to the joke. “Juhu - Bandra peeps have given all ATBB’s since the past 50 years. You have to be a real duffer to undermine their contribution.”

His comment quickly drew reactions online, with users debating whether the filmmaker’s response supported Zakir Khan’s observation or countered it. Responding in the comments section, one user wrote, “This tweet proves Zakir's joke, though.” Another remarked, “You have to be a real duffer to even consider that as contribution.”
A third added, “Hahahaha!! 100% And these are the same Juhu - Bandra peeps who ran this industry for decades and gave employment to millions of people including these new duffers.” Yet another user took a swipe at Anand’s earlier remarks about Fighter, writing, “None can undermine your critical thinking about audience when they rejected your garbage movie called ‘Fighter’.”

On the professional front, Siddharth Anand is currently working on King, which marks his reunion with Shah Rukh Khan after Pathaan. The film also features Suhana Khan in her theatrical debut, along with Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi and Vijay Varma, among others. The film is scheduled for a Christmas release.
