Emerging actor Altamash Faraz is gradually carving a space for himself in the entertainment industry, with performances that reflect both range and emotional depth. As he continues to take on diverse roles, the actor recently opened up about his cinematic influences, dream collaborations, and the kind of stories he aspires to be a part of going forward.
Altamash, who has experimented with a variety of characters across genres, emphasised that his approach to acting goes beyond surface-level performance. He expressed a keen interest in being associated with stories that leave a lasting impact on audiences, rather than simply entertaining in the moment.
Speaking about filmmakers he admires, the actor was quick to name Imtiaz Ali as one of his top choices. Sharing his thoughts, he said, “For me, I would always want to work with Imtiaz Ali, as anything he creates shouts magic.” While acknowledging his appreciation for such storytelling, Altamash also pointed out that his strengths lie in genres that combine intensity with emotion.
He further highlighted his interest in collaborating with directors known for mounting large-scale entertainers. Referring to Siddharth Anand and Ali Abbas Zafar, he said, “I think for me, the action and romance genres are best suited, so I am really looking forward to finding an opportunity to work with filmmakers like Siddharth Anand and Ali Abbas Zafar, where I could do some action-packed roles.”
At the same time, the actor underlined his deep-rooted connection with romantic storytelling. “Romance runs in my blood, so if I get an opportunity to work on a hardcore, passionate romantic love story, I would love to do that,” he shared, adding that he remains open to exploring varied roles that challenge him creatively.
Altamash also stressed that he does not wish to be confined to a single genre. “Having said that, I am always looking for interesting roles that challenge me and shake me up as a performer. I don’t want to limit myself and grow immensely as an actor,” Altamash explained.
Discussing his influences, the actor credited world cinema for shaping his perspective on storytelling. “I have watched the world cinema in an extensive way as well. People around the world are doing extraordinary work that just shakes your way of thinking,” he noted, adding that films like The Voice of Hind Rajab left a strong emotional impact on him. “It shook me to the core,” he admitted.
He also spoke about the influence of legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, saying, “Martin Scorsese has really had a huge influence on my impression of cinema growing up. I love the Martin-De Niro duo.”
Concluding on an aspirational note, Altamash said, “I wish I could get to work with him one day. Find my own Scorsese somewhere and make an unbeatable team,” signalling his ambition to build meaningful creative collaborations as he continues his journey in cinema.
