Director Siddharth Anand, known for high-octane action flicks like Bang Bang! and War, expressed his delight at Ayan Mukerji helming the reins of War 2 in a recent interview with Galatta Plus. While Anand initially envisioned directing the sequel himself, scheduling conflicts led to a change of plans, paving the way for Mukerji to join the YRF Spy Universe.

Anand expressed an almost paternalistic pride in seeing his creation flourish under another director's guidance. "It's like a baby, your son flourishing in somebody else's company," he remarked, highlighting the collaborative spirit within the production house. Despite missing out on directing War 2, Anand revealed discussions took place internally at YRF, ultimately leading to the current arrangement.

Moving beyond War 2, Anand spoke about his strong bond with YRF head honcho Aditya Chopra, describing their relationship as akin to a "father and son" dynamic. He expressed his deep respect for Chopra and acknowledged the open communication maintained between them. "YRF's doors are always open to me, and I'm always open to YRF," Anand declared, hinting at future collaborations.

Further showcasing his creative outlook, Anand mentioned his latest project, Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, and reiterated his open-mindedness towards future sequels. "So tomorrow if somebody else makes Pathaan 2, there's no bad blood or anything," he shared. "These are my creations. I'm just proud as a father to know that somebody else is taking it forward."

Coming to the professional front, Anand is currently making headlines for his latest release Fighter. Starring Hrithik Roshana and Deepika Padukone, the aerial action film was released a day before Republic Day of India. Despite creating a buzz, the film underperformed.
