Actor Shriya Saran expressed her frustration on Wednesday after discovering that someone had been impersonating her and contacting people using a fake phone number. She took to Instagram to expose the imposter by sharing a screenshot of the number being used, which also displayed her photo as the caller ID.
Shriya urged the person to stop immediately, writing, “Whoever this idiot is, please stop writing to people and wasting time. This is weird. I feel bad for wasting people’s time.” She also reminded fans and colleagues to stay cautious, revealing that the impersonator had even reached out to people she admired and hoped to work with.
She clarified, “This is not me. Not my number. On a lighter note, the only good thing is that this person is messaging people I admire and would love to work with. Very strange. Why would you waste your time doing this? Go get a life, not someone else’s.”
Shriya also posted a warning on her Instagram Stories. Sharing the same screenshot, she wrote, “Scam alert. Fake. Getting calls from friends that someone is impersonating me. Please stay away from this fake number for any communication or work bookings. Strictly no payments.”
Her post prompted concern from fans, who flooded the comments with support. One fan wrote, “Sorry you’re dealing with something so stressful, Shriya ma’am. It must be frustrating to see someone misuse your name. You handled it with grace, and your real fans understand — no impersonator can match your dignity and warmth.” Another advised her to report the number: “Madam, please share this number with cybercrime or file a complaint. They will take care of it.”

Earlier this year, Shriya made a special appearance in the Tamil romantic action thriller Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj and starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde. In September, she was part of the Telugu fantasy action film Mirai, directed by Karthik Gattamneni, which also featured Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, Jagapathi Babu, Ritika Nayak, and Jayaram.
Shriya is married to Andrei Koscheev, and the couple has a daughter named Radha.
