It is really sad that in today’s time and age, women have to face misogyny in all walks of life and even celebrities fall prey to this toxic mentality. After Mahira Khan, Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, who had starred in Hindi Medium, has been trolled mercilessly on social media over her leaked BTS picture where she was smoking casually while getting her makeup done. Some people have also commented on an open button of her shirt and how she is an embarrassment to their ‘culture’ in Pakistan.
Some of these trolls have written, “Saba Qamar has also begin following Mahira Khan, Is she even Muslim anymore ??” Another one commented, “Saba Qamar has also begin following Mahira Khan,Shamefull..are we muslims.” While masses trolled Saba, there were others from the Pak film industry who actually stood by her and slammed the trolls.
Adnan Siddiqui took to social media to stand by his friend and write, “Came through what’s being called BTS images of my colleague and a friend #SabaQamar’s recently done photoshoot which is spreading on social media like wildfire, I’m deeply saddened by this act, this is not us and we shouldn’t take pride in it in any manner! #support #friendship.” Osman Khalid, who is another colleague of Saba’s opined, “For the love of God, stop looking for every excuse to drag your icons down… Stop sharing these images/videos and stop commenting on them. If you want to speak out, speak out against the jahalat of whoever did this just for social media infamy.”
Actor Aijaz Aslam called this act a cheap stunt for publicity by the trolls and wrote, “ Today I feel sad that a colleague and one of the finest actors of Pakistan is being exploited by someone for a cheap publicity stunt… it was just a simple BTS (behind the scene) video during a photoshoot from which the screenshots were taken and made viral on social media… It’s disgusting that people can go up to any extent for cheap publicity… Saba you are a superstar and don’t let these haters demotivate you…”
