Actor and fitness enthusiast Shilpa Shetty Kundra recently shared her thoughts on climate change, environmental responsibility and the importance of reconnecting children with nature during a media interaction. Speaking about the growing environmental crisis, Shilpa stressed that fitness and wellness cannot exist in isolation if the environment itself is suffering. “Fitness, wellness can't be limited only to us. If the planet is healthy, you will feel healthier. So, it is very important to pay attention to that,” she said. The actress also addressed the realities of climate change and global warming, urging people to become more aware and take personal responsibility instead of depending solely on governments. “Global warming is a reality. Climate change is a reality. It is very important to be aware and work now. Only the government can't do it for you. It is very important to understand your responsibility and tell your children about it. We feel that this is our birthright. This earth is ours. We can do anything. If you change the perspective towards the earth, you will see a lot of change,” Shilpa added.

Encouraging people to actively contribute towards change, the actor further emphasised the role parents play in shaping environmentally conscious habits among children. She highlighted how modern lifestyles and excessive screen time are disconnecting children from nature and the outdoors. “So, if you want change, you have to be the change. I really believe that it is not too late yet. If you can bring change in children - children don't go out and play these days. They don't play in the mud. You have to have them connected to the earth,” she shared.

Referring to India’s Vedic traditions and the importance of the five elements in ancient teachings, Shilpa expressed concern over how modern society has drifted away from those values. “The five elements we are talking about, we give so much importance to them in our Vedic history. Where do we give so much importance to them today? So, it is important to teach your children to leave the iPad, disconnect, be connected to the earth. We have to make it a lifestyle. So, bring awareness to yourself, to your children,” she continued.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra also appreciated tree plantation drives and environmental movements that promote awareness and collective action. Concluding her thoughts on an optimistic note, the actress said, “Today, the tree plantation drive is a good movement in a good direction. And they say, what we feel today is hope for tomorrow. So, we really hope that we can see a better tomorrow. We see the climate change happening for the better.”
