Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has shared glowing praise for Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar following its recent Netflix premiere. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the espionage thriller follows an Indian intelligence agent infiltrating Karachi's underworld to dismantle a terror network targeting India.

Kapur posted on X (formerly Twitter): "Finally saw #Dhurandhar on Netflix. Terrific storytelling and very high level of performances even from minor roles. Director #AdityaDhar deserves all the praise he's getting. Congratulations producer #jyotideshpande and looking forward to #Dhurandhar2."

Agreeing with a fan's note on its self-contained Part 1 structure—"It is rare for a 'Part 1' to stand on its own while setting up a 'Part 2.' Usually, they feel incomplete. Dhurandhar managed to deliver a full meal while promising a banquet"—Kapur simply replied, "Agree."
Kapur explained missing the film's December 2025 theatrical release, which grossed nearly Rs 900 crores domestically, because "I wish I had .. but it want available in theatres where I am. I am in Dubai where it did not release." For the unversed, Dhurandhar faced bans in six Gulf countries—Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and UAE—due to its perceived anti-Pakistan narrative and sensitive geopolitical themes, despite makers' efforts for clearance.

When asked about the OTT version feeling censored, Kapur noted, "It did not feel censored except for swear words .. but it was obvious what the characters were saying," and the Netflix cut is reportedly 9 minutes shorter than the 3h 34m theatrical runtime.
Dhurandhar, which released theatrically in December last year, is an espionage-driven action drama that follows an undercover Indian operative navigating hostile territory. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Sara Arjun, alongside Ranveer Singh in the lead.
