Director Imtiaz Ali, music maestro A R Rahman and actors Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari, Vedang Raina, Anjana Sukhani, Rajat Kapoor, Sanjay Suri, Manish Chaudhari, casting director Mukesh Chhabra and Girish Kumar and Kumar Taurani of Tips and others attended the trailer launch of the film Main Vaapas Aaunga at a multiplex in Mumbai. Both Vedang and Sharvari have worked with Alia in Jigra (2024) and the upcoming Alpha, respectively. Recently, she showed her support for Main Vaapas Aaunga by posting about the song ‘Maskara’ from the film.
Sharvari and Vedang Raina were asked about it. Sharvari said, “She did it purely out of love for the fondness that she has for both of us and also Imtiaz sir. I don’t think she is that calculated as a person. She really liked the song and she reached out to all of us. I am sure she was very busy in Cannes and yet, she made sure that she put something out for us, which is so sweet and so generous. It describes her more than anything else. We are so grateful to have a cheerleader like that in our lives. I have had the best experience shooting with her and I can’t wait to show the film to her soon.”

Vedang added, “This is for the public to see, but it is not the first time that she has done something like this. I am talking about my experience of shooting with her in Jigra. She was like that the whole time. You can imagine how I must have been on the first day of the shoot when I was told to shoot a scene with Alia. But she made sure that I was feeling okay. She made me feel calm. She was always there to look after me. Whenever I talk to Sharvari, she has a very similar experience. That’s when you know what kind of person Alia must be. She has just done this from the kindness of her heart. She must have enjoyed the song and so, she put it up. We love her for this.”
Sharvari remarked, “Basically, the two of us are Alia paglus (smiles)!”
At another point, a journalist noted that Vedang Raina is the youngest male lead in an Imtiaz Ali film. Vedang was pleasantly surprised and said, “It’s the most amazing thing that could have ever happened to me, especially so early in my career. I would like to thank Imtiaz sir for that.”

Imtiaz, however, said that Alia Bhatt in Highway (2014) deserves the honour. He stated, “Don’t bear the pressure of being the youngest as Alia is bearing that.” This is when the journalist clarified that she meant ‘youngest male lead’. Imtiaz realized his folly and humbly apologized. Vedang joked, “Sir, please don’t take this away from me!”
Main Vaapas Aaunga releases in cinemas on June 12.
