After the massive success of its first season, the much-loved web series Farzi is officially back in production. Actor Shahid Kapoor has begun shooting for the highly anticipated second season and gave fans a sneak peek into the first day on set through his social media.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, Shahid shared monochrome behind-the-scenes glimpses from the sets, subtly confirming that filming for Season 2 is now underway. The photos, though minimal, were enough to excite fans as they hinted at the return of Sunny—the sharp yet conflicted artist whose journey into the world of counterfeit currency formed the heart of the show’s gripping first season.
Created by the celebrated filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., popularly known as Raj & DK, Farzi quickly became one of the most talked-about streaming shows upon its release. The series was widely praised for its edgy storytelling, dark humour, and intense narrative that explored the frustrations of economic disparity and ambition in modern India.
At the centre of the story is Sunny, played by Shahid Kapoor, a talented but disillusioned artist who uses his exceptional design skills to create what he believes is the “perfect” counterfeit currency note. What begins as a small-scale operation soon spirals into a high-stakes criminal enterprise, drawing the attention of law enforcement and setting off a relentless cat-and-mouse chase.
Season 1 also featured a powerful ensemble cast including Vijay Sethupathi as the determined task force officer Michael, Kay Kay Menon as the cunning crime boss Mansoor Dalal, Raashii Khanna as RBI officer Megha, and Bhuvan Arora as Sunny’s loyal friend Firoz. Their performances played a key role in elevating the series and making it a standout entry in the crime thriller genre.
Raashii Khanna had earlier hinted that the second season was indeed in the works, reassuring fans that the story would continue. Now, with Shahid Kapoor officially stepping back onto the set, anticipation for the next chapter has only intensified.
