During a recent session at the India Today Mind Rocks Youth Summit 2024, author Chetan Bhagat shared a heartwarming anecdote involving Shah Rukh Khan. Bhagat recalled visiting the sets of Om Shanti Om with his aging mother and how SRK's small yet meaningful gesture left a lasting impression.

Chetan Bhagat shared, “My mother was there. She wanted to see the shooting. I took her, and she was standing there. The shot got over, and he (Shah Rukh Khan) saw that my mother is older. He went, and nobody on the set thought of it. He picked up a chair for my mother. So, how can I not like that level of person?”
The author, who was not as famous back then, was touched by the Bollywood superstar’s humility and respect for elders, a trait SRK is often admired for by his fans and colleagues.
Admiration for Shah Rukh Khan
During the event, Bhagat was asked which actor he admired the most in the Indian film industry. Given options like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Shah Rukh Khan, Bhagat confessed that he felt a “little biased” towards SRK. He praised the actor for not only being a talented performer but also a “good human being.”
A memorable visit to Mannat
The Five Point Someone author also shared another memorable encounter with Shah Rukh Khan. He recalled visiting SRK’s residence, Mannat, for work-related purposes, and was surprised by the actor’s graciousness. “He’s the only superstar who walked out of his house to see me off to my car. His manners are impeccable,” Bhagat shared, further reinforcing his admiration for King Khan’s humility.
