Ranveer Singh–starrer Dhurandhar continued its strong run at the box office, earning over Rs. 400 crores in India within twelve days of its release. The spy thriller not only emerged as a commercial success but also marked a renewed wave of appreciation for Akshaye Khanna, whose performance as Rehman Dakait drew widespread acclaim.
Actor Saumya Tandon, who played Akshaye Khanna’s wife in the film, recently spoke about Dhurandhar and its cast. In an interview with Radio City, she shared her admiration for the film’s team and described the project as one meant for the “brave.” She also singled out director Aditya Dhar, calling him “the biggest of them all.”
Speaking about Ranveer Singh, who played the lead role of Hamza, Saumya made a special mention of his performance. “I also want to say one more thing. Everybody’s talking about Akshaye, but I have to tell you, I love Ranveer in that movie,” she said.
Explaining what stood out for her, Saumya added, “Because, you know, the silent parts? Being a superstar, being a hero. He’s standing behind and giving the stage to Akshaye to do all those nuances. He’s very subtly standing behind as an actor and staying silent. I think it’s the sign of a very mature artist.”
Earlier, Saumya had shared a series of behind-the-scenes pictures from Dhurandhar on Instagram. Along with the photos, she penned a heartfelt note for her co-stars and director Aditya Dhar, expressing gratitude for being part of the film.
An excerpt from her post read, “Ulfat for you! It’s absolutely overwhelming to receive so much love and appreciation for my part in #Dhurandhar. It wasn’t a long screen time, but so many of you told me the character made an impact and that means the world. I genuinely didn’t expect this response.”
With its box office success and continued praise from the industry, Dhurandhar remained one of the most talked-about films of the year.
