Saumya Tandon, known for Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, shared gripping behind-the-scenes details from her intense role as Akshaye Khanna's onscreen wife in the blockbuster spy thriller Dhurandhar. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar and released on December 5, 2025, features Ranveer Singh as an Indian agent infiltrating Pakistan's Lyari gang led by Khanna's menacing Rehman Dakait. Tandon's chemistry with Khanna captivated audiences despite limited interaction time.
The pivotal scene unfolds as Tandon's character slaps Rehman upon learning of their son's death, a raw moment demanding multiple takes. In a chat with Mid-Day, Saumya recalled, “I didn’t even have time to interact with Akshaye, but I genuinely think we had great chemistry. Somehow, just through our eyes, there was so much camaraderie between the two of us. I didn’t have to work hard to build that connection because he’s such a seasoned actor. He is completely present in the moment.”
As Saumya continued, she spoke about the slap scene and said, “Initially, I was trying to cheat during slap scene. Then Aditya came to me and said, ‘Don’t fake it, just go for it.’ I looked at Akshaye and asked, ‘Should I go for it?’ and he very nonchalantly said, ‘Go for it.’ So I did. I felt terrible slapping him, but I just went ahead and did it.”
In another interview with Filmygyan, talking about this same scene, Akshaye’s co-star Naveen Kaushik, who played Donga, revealed, “There were multiple shots. I think he got slapped 7 times, because it's a very powerful moment.”
Speaking of the film, the ensemble cast, which includes Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan, is hailed for its patriotic appeal. Fans eagerly await Dhurandhar 2, confirmed for March 19, 2026, theatrical release in the film's end credits, setting up a clash with Yash's Toxic.
