PVR INOX, Versova Homage Screening and Radio Nasha organized the screening of Satya (1998) on January 15, two days before its re-release in cinemas across the country. The event was memorable as it was graced by the film’s team – director Ram Gopal Varma, presenters Bharat Shah and Vinay Chowksey, music director Vishal Bhardwaj, writer Anurag Kashyap and actors Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpayee, Chakravarthy, Aditya Srivastava and Makrand Deshpande. The team of the film went down memory lane like never before.

Ram Gopal Varma shared an interesting trivia at the very beginning of the event: “For the shootout scene, I told Anurag that I want some joke to be cracked. My idea was that characters were laughing and making merry when suddenly, the firing happened. Accordingly, Anurag narrated a scene to me. I didn’t understand what he was saying. But he was enjoying it so much that I thought that it must be good! It's only after the film was released that I understood what the joke meant.”

The scene in question occurs in the first half of the film and the joke is cracked by Chander (Snehal Daabbi) to Bhiku Mhatre (Manoj Bajpayee) and others at an under-construction site when they are suddenly attacked.

Anurag Kashyap pitched in, “I was totally raw, and he and I would argue a lot. He would eventually turn out to be right. To shut me up, he would say, ‘It’s a good idea; put it in your film’ (laughs)!”

He then narrated, “For Manoj Bajpayee’s death sequence, there was Saurabh Shukla, me, Makarand Deshpande and Ramu ji and we were all fighting. I did not agree with the way the death sequence was being shot. It was only when I saw it on screen that I wondered ‘I was so wrong’! I kept on fighting. After one point, Ramu just said, ‘Right now, you are not making this film. I am. Can we shoot?’”
