The ever smiling and lovable Satish Kaushik passed away suddenly today due to a heart attack. He earned a name for himself by playing some memorable roles in various films. However, he was also a director who made some significant films, one of which was Tere Naam (2003). It is considered a landmark movie in the career of Salman Khan and his hairstyle, especially, had become a rage among youngsters.

Co-starring Bhumika Chawla, Tere Naam is the story of a college rowdy who falls in love with a simple girl. One day, a ruthless attack renders him mentally unstable. Its music by Sajid-Wajid and Himesh Reshammiya was a hit and continues to be popular.

In August 2019, on the 16th anniversary of Tere Naam, Satish Kaushik opened up about this film to Mumbai Mirror and revealed that not just in India, but even the barber shops in Pakistan and Afghanistan had posters advertising the ‘Tere Naam’ haircut! He also said that it was Salman Khan’s idea to have that particular hairdo for the character of Radhe.

Kaushik in this interview also revealed that the film was initially called Radhe and was changed to Tere Naam, inspired by Ronit Roy’s 1992 film, Jaan Tere Naam. As for criticism that Radhe was a bad role model for youngsters, Satish Kaushik argued, “There are boys like him in small towns and the audience connected with Radhe.”

Meanwhile, Satish Kaushik had expressed a desire to make a sequel to Tere Naam. Called Tere Naam 2, the script of the film was penned by him. As per reports, it was a love story of a gangster and was set in North India. However, there was no confirmation whether Salman Khan heard the script and whether he’d like to be a part of it. When prodded, Satish Kaushik said that he was busy with his directorial venture, Kaagaz (2021) and would probably take it up in the future. He stated, “I know the audience is waiting for it, I have something on my mind, but I haven’t sounded out Salman yet. For now, it’s all about Kaagaz.”

Interestingly, Kaagaz, starring Pankaj Tripathi, was presented by Salman Khan Films. Both Salman and Satish Kaushik also worked together in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat (2019).
